Kendrick Lamar has released a new video for Black Panther cut ‘King’s Dead’

The track features Future, Jay Rock and James Blake

Kendrick Lamar, Future, Jay Rock and James Blake have shared a video for Black Panther posse cut ‘King’s Dead’.

The track features on Lamar’s soundtrack for the new Marvel movie. Titled ‘Black Panther: The Album – Music From And Inspired By’, the album also features The Weeknd, Khalid, SZA, and more.

In the new video, Kendrick Lamar can be seen eating corn in a palm tree while Jay Rock gets his hair cut and Future hangs out in a fancy looking elevator. It’s directed by Dave Free (of The Little Homies) and Jack Begert and you can watch it unfold below.

Black Panther, set in the fictional African nation of Wakanda, is the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to feature a black lead actor and a predominantly black cast. In NME‘s review it was named “the best Marvel movie yet”.

Director Coogler recently responded to rumors that pro-DC fans are attempting to sabotage his film’s Rotten Tomatoes aggregate score by sating: “I’m really looking forward to sharing the film with audiences regardless of what their political views are.”

Their alleged cause is a resistance against Disney’s spotlight on BME and female characters.

The score for Black Panther was created by Swedish-born composer Ludwig Göransson, who has a long working relationship with Childish Gambino, as his producer.

‘Black Panther’s soundtrack was recorded in London with 132-piece western classical orchestra, African percussionists and a 40-person choir.

This isn’t the first time Göransson has worked with ‘Black Panther’ director Ryan Coogler, having previously collaborated on ‘Creed’ and ‘Fruitvale Station’.

Göransson told Pitchfork how he found the sound for the film: “It’s such a massive movie. After I read the script and I started reading the comic, I knew the only way I could do this was to go to Africa and do research. I took a month off and traveled to Senegal.”

The soundtrack is released February 16.
