A Luis Suárez masterclass inspired a stunning comeback from FC Barcelona, who beat Real Sociedad 4-2 at the Anoeta on Sunday night.
The Blaugrana immediately went on the front foot and Gerónimo Rulli had to be quick off his line to smother first Suárez and then Sergi Roberto within the first six minutes.
However, the league leaders were stunned in the 11th minute, when Willian José headed in the opener off the bar after meeting a pinoint Xabi Prieto cross from the right.
In the 28th minute, Willian José put the ball in the back of the net once more with a deflected strike. However, the goal was disallowed as he was ruled to have fouled Ivan Rakitić in the build-up.
Sociedad continued to threaten and Sergio Canales forced Marc-André ter Stegen into a diving save with a low long-range shot three minutes later.
In the 34th minute, the hosts were rewarded for their dominance. Juanmi got on the end of a fantastic lobbed through pass from Canales in the box and fired in their second goal off Sergi Roberto.
Barcelona finally hit back five minutes later. Suárez set Paulinho up for a tap-in with a well-executed pass from the left and the Brazilian duly slotted home.
Suárez then netted a stunning goal of his own in the 50th minute. After receiving a pass from Lionel Messi on the left side of the box, the Uruguayan beat Rulli with a sublime finesse shot.
21 minutes later, the former Liverpool striker completed a superb comeback. After running in behind the defence and receiving a headed pass from Thomas Vermaelen, Suárez slotted home his second goal of the night.
The onslaught continued, and in the 82nd minute, Rulli had to make an alert save to keep out a long-range Messi volley.
Three minutes later, the keeper was left with absolutely no chance of saving a world class free-kick from the diminutive number 10, who made his perfectly-placed floating shot look effortless.
That was the cherry on top for the Catalans, who moved nine points clear of Atlético Madrid at the summit of LaLiga.
